Annual Heritage & Harvest Festival
Sunday, September 18, 2011

The day promises to be a family filled fun day that will include games for all ages. Some of the wonderful highlights from previous Harvest Days have included the very beautiful Connemara Ponies, How to pour a proper Guinness pint (Free Samples), Youth Football and much more.
In Ireland a harvest festival is where the farmers bring their harvests to town to trade or sell. Potatoes are used to make Poteen, a drink that is sold at fairs. There is lots of dancing, singing, music, and storytelling. Chicago Gaelic Park continues the tradition by making a family event with no cost to anyone who attends. Some of the games that will take place will be the Straw Pillow Fight, Candy in the Straw scramble, Three Legged Race, Sack Race, Dizzy Stick Race, Barrel race and the Water Balloon Toss.
Chicago Gaelic Park was established over 25 years ago with the purpose of promoting and fostering of Irish culture, music and sports within the Irish & Irish-American community. If you have Irish Heritage in your blood, you cannot miss this magnificent day of celebrating your Irish heritage. Please come out and you will surprised by the fun you and your family will have. The day typically starts with the “Threshing” that usually begins around 11:30am with a full schedule of events through the day, including music and dancing.
